14mm, 0.77g, A-2019D. Singatullina ?10
There is much debate about whether Arigbuqa was actually a Great Khan of Mongolia. Whatever the case, there is proof that Arigbuqa was in fact the Great king of Mongolia in a coin and tamgha released in the 13th century. The coin and the tamgha were used in the Golden Horde and Chagatai Khanate. There are even reports of such coins with the same tamgha being found in Khara Khorum. There is no other way to interpret the words ““Ariqbuqa / Khan al-Azam /Al-Adl” “ on the coin other than “Arigbuqa The Great Khan.” There is simply no other meaning. The trident tamgha on the back of the coin is very similar to the tamgha on the coin of Arigbuqa’s older brother Möngke Khan. However, the trident tamgha on ari Khan’s coin is unique in that the exact same tamgha is not found on any other coin. This shows that the coin is specific to Arigbuqa Khan only. In the Great Khuraldai of 1260 that took place in (orkhonii river valley), Arigbuqa was made Khan of Mongolia. This appointment was approved by both the Golden Horde and the Chagatai Khanate. As a show of their approval the Golden Horde and Chagatai Khanate released this coin. This is the closest explanation to the truth. There is no other coin in the world that bears the Great Arigbuqa Khan’s name and tamgha making this coin a unique and special part of Mongolian history.
